The Costa Blanca is without doubt a golf players paradise. There are over fifteen 18 hole golf courses in the Costa Blanca, all within a 2 hour drive of Benidorm. Some have been designed by Seve Ballesteros, some regularly play host to Spanish national championships, some are even ranked regularly amongst the top courses in the world.Boat ride to Calpe
Beautiful coastal viewsTown Centre
The port of Calpe is just one hour's pleasure boat ride away. Enjoy first class views of the cliffs, coastline, and the attractive bay of Altea. If you wish to explore Calpe, a walk along the esplanade will lead you to the town. Or you could just enjoy the port itself with its wide selection of restaurants where fish, naturally, features high on the menus. Boats depart from Benidorm Marina at 11.00 am, and the return journey leaves Calpe at 3.00pm. (This doesn't leave that much time for sightseeing so you might want to take a taxi back). The boat runs all year round, every day except Tuesdays and Sundays.
Benidorm Island
Take a Submarine Trip!Town Centre
Take a yellow, sub aquatic catamaran trip to Benidorm Island, 2 kilometres out to sea. No, I didn't know what one of those was either, but apparently it’s like a regular catamaran with an underwater deck where you can see marine life once you've arrived. The island is a conservation haven for a variety of birds, peacocks and hens, so there you have it - something for the twitchers. Trips run every hour, tickets are available from the kiosk at the far end of the quay.
Benidorm beaches - the Levante and the Poniente
Benidorm's beaches are justifiably famous and the resort's continuing success owes much to those fabulous golden crescents. Stretching for a luxuriant six kilometres from Levante Beach in the east to Poniente Beach in the west, consistently high quality blue flag bathing, lifeguard patrols, a wealth of water sports and an impressive approach to cleanliness mean these beaches are among the best in Europe. Each has its own particular character so take your pick-Levante Beach
This is the sandy holiday hub for those who're out for fun and frolics, and is known as the sunrise beach. In high season it can get pretty crowded, although there are quite literally thousands of sun beds (over 5000 in case you're curious). It's backed by a broad promenade sporting bars and cafes and in short...it's lively! The beach is sandy and slopes gently into the water which makes for relatively safe bathing for the young or less confident water baby. Further out to sea are swinging bridges, diving boards, rafts, slides, a wet playground for the energetic, and lifeguards are on hand throughout the summer season.
Families are exceptionally well catered for. The children enjoy all day entertainment - which can only be good news for parents. Ever experienced that awful moment when having arranged to meet your kids under the sign up yonder, you realise there's a veritable glut of identical signs? Then you'll be mightily reassured by the Council's initiative which provides huge, colourful picture boards to be used as meeting points. Very helpful to children too - I mean, where are they supposed to go for their next lolly? They knew mum's sunshade was the blue one..like the other few hundred...phew.
Poniente Beach
Beyond the Old Town, PONIENTE BEACH is to the west of LEVANTE, and comprises a mammoth golden curl of excellent fine sand. Huge! If you don't want quite such a hectic time having fun in the sun this will be your better option as PONIENTE tends to be slightly less crowded. There's still plenty of facilities close at hand and the inevitable (yet necessary) army of sunbeds, but in general there's a more relaxed and laid back feel here - and a bit more space. Families, young un's and the not-so-young- but-young-at-heart are very well catered for and have all they need to enjoy great swimming (there're no rocks) and sunbathing. Again, the sand is spotlessly clean each morning.
